Grand Performances
40th Anniversary Opening Night
misterpsychedelia proudly presents the opening night of Grand Performances’ 40th Anniversary season, celebrating four decades of free music and cultural programming in Downtown Los Angeles.
This special evening brings together a dynamic lineup rooted in cumbia and sonidero traditions, connecting sounds across regions and communities.
Direct from Puebla, Mexico, Grupo Soñador delivers a timeless cumbia sound that continues to resonate across generations. From Los Angeles, Wachiwara represents the city’s vibrant underground scene, while Turbo Sonidero, traveling from San Jose, California, brings a powerful sound system-driven approach that embodies the spirit of sonidero culture.
Set against the iconic California Plaza, this free, all-ages event invites audiences to gather, dance, and celebrate the energy of transnational music culture in one of the city’s most important public spaces.

Ruidotovar World Tour 2026 Lands in Los Angeles — Mexican Institute of Sound & Meridian Brothers
MisterPsychedelia presents a night where genre disappears and sound takes over.
On August 5, two of the most forward-thinking forces in Latin alternative music — Mexican Institute of Sound and Meridian Brothers — bring their Ruidotovar World Tour 2026 to The Regent Theater in Los Angeles.
This is not a typical live show. It’s a collision of sonic worlds: psychedelic cumbia, experimental electronics, tropical futurism, and satirical pop — all filtered through two projects that have consistently pushed Latin music into new territory.
Mexican Institute of Sound, the project of Camilo Lara, blends archival rhythms with modern production, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and completely forward-facing.
Meridian Brothers, led by Eblis Álvarez, twist traditional Colombian sounds into something surreal, unpredictable, and deeply inventive.
Together, they create a live experience that’s as conceptual as it is danceable. Joining the night is Madrugada, representing the local underground with a set to open the evening and set the tone.
